I go for a bike ride in Richmond Park. It’s been known by a few different names over the years: le Newe Parc de Shene (1463), park called Richmond Park (1541), The New Park of Richmond alias Richmond Great Park (1649). I propose that until something is done to relieve the absurd congestion of motor cars on Sawyer’s and Broomfield Hills, Queen’s Road and Priory Lane – the ring road, as it were – it should be known as Richmond Car Park.
